About the hostelOur hostel offers friendly, interesting and very comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price and welcomes disabled guests. It is an ideal place to relax and spend time with family, friends or in an organised group. We are situated in the south of Poland in interestingly restored estate buildings by the ruins of the 300 year old manor house once owned by the Kossak family next to the Zofia Kossak Szatkowska Museum (www.muzeumkossak.pl, www.zofiakossak.pl). Our "Stables" sleep 70 people in well-appointed 3- to 14-person bedrooms, while the former "Ice-house" provides a wonderfully atmospheric place for recreation, has a large dining room with feature fireplace, a self-catering kitchen and a common room with views of the hills. In the grounds there is an area where you can barbecue over an open fire and a roofed area for sitting in among the trees. The hostel is located in the village of Górki Wielkie at the mouth of a very pretty river valley which runs between gentle wooded hills. There are many marked paths and an international cycle route runs by our grounds. We are fortunate to have a number of good restaurants and a shop close by. The valley is a popular destination and in the summer people often join the trout in the pools in the river. Near the end of the valley, the village of Brenna has a number of tourist attractions, including horse-riding, regional folk bands, a funfair in the summer and ski lifts serving the gentle local slopes in the winter. Further afield are the historic towns of Cieszyn on the Czech border (12 km) and Bielsko-Biała in the opposite direction. There is a regular bus service between Brenna and Cieszyn, and with 1 change of bus, to Bielsko. Expressway 1 (E75 linking Norway to Crete) runs not far away. We are therefore a convenient place to break your international journey. |
