Hostel Koss was oficially opened on Saturday 16th June 2007. The Hostel’s Manager, Andrzej Burkot, warmly welcomed the many guests who had assembled in the late afternoon sunshine. He particularly welcomed Zofia Kossak’s daughter Anna Bugnon Rosset, who had travelled specially for the occasion from Switzerland. Anna Fenby Taylor then said a few words about the history of the place, thanking the many people who had helped her realise her dream of converting the old Manor outbuildings. What had been created was a venue attractive to visitors to the Zofia Kossak Szatkowska Museum and Manor ruins as well as to other visitors to the area. Very special thanks were due to Ludwik Herok and Ernest Machej, the professionals who had steered the various teams of workmen. Anna Fenby Taylor felt happy and confident that in Andrzej Burkot the Hostel had the best person to run and promote it. The Parish Priest, Father Zygmunt Moćko completed the official part of the proceedings by blessing the “Manor Icehouse” and the “Scout’s Stables”. The guests then enjoyed the refreshments laid on in the Icehouse. As the afternoon turned into evening sausages were grilled over the open fire. Many people stayed the night. Altogether an auspicious beginning for our new venture.
